Self-employed Visiting Music Teacher - Piano

Required from: September 2026 for 1 – 1.5 days per week

Teaching rate: £26.00 per 30-minute lesson

A space has become available for a Visiting Music Teacher (Piano) to use the facilities at Blackheath High Junior School.

Visiting Music Teachers are self-employed and the contract for the provision of lessons is between parents and the VMT. The VMT Agreement is drawn up by the GDST and arrangements for instrumental lessons are managed by the Head of Junior Music, who acts as an agent in making the contractual arrangement with parents.

There are currently 1 – 1.5 days of teaching available, but this is subject to change in demand.

There are a team of fourteen Visiting Music Teachers at the Junior School in a busy and thriving music department. The post would suit someone who is experienced in teaching beginners as well as preparing students for music examinations as required. Professionalism and excellent communication skills are essential.

The current teaching rate is £26.00 per 30-minute lesson, with the aim of teaching a minimum of 10 lessons per term.
