The role
South Hampstead High School is looking for a dynamic, energetic and inspirational teacher to join our thriving Geography Department on a permanent basis from September 2025.
As a Teacher of Geography, you will plan, prepare and deliver challenging, well-organised and engaging Geography lessons to highly motivated and talented pupils from Years 7 to 13. You will also work with colleagues to create a positive culture of pupil welfare and behaviour, by playing an active role in pastoral matters.
In addition to this, you will also be expected to contribute to the Geography department's vibrant co-curricular programme, including a commitment to our extensive fieldwork programme. Many day visits take place throughout the year (particularly in the summer term) and all curriculum teachers are required to participate.
About you
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual with a passion for teaching, who is able to provide the necessary pace and stretch to challenge our pupils in an engaging, exciting and enjoyable way. You will either be an experienced teacher with a proven track record, or a well-qualified ECT/graduate, looking to begin your career in teaching.
We are also looking for a temporary, full time or part time Teacher of Geography to cover a period of maternity leave.
The Geography Department
The Geography Department is a successful department with an impressive academic record and very large GCSE and A-Level numbers. Teaching takes place across two dedicated Geography classrooms and staff are provided with laptops and iPads to support teaching, fieldwork and extra-curricular provision. We have a thriving Geography Society, which has previously hosted Tim Marshall and Danny Dorling and academics from universities. The department also offers a popular trip to Iceland.
