Sheffield Girls’ are looking to appoint an IT Technician to join our IT Support department in order to assist with managing, monitoring and maintaining the school’s IT systems.
The role will involve working on a highly varied range of tasks and so the postholder should have a strong technical understanding of IT systems but also a commitment to continuing professional development.
The salary for this role will be on the GDST’s Support Staff Grade 3 (between £27,171 - £30,720 per annum, dependent on experience).

The IT Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the school's IT infrastructure. Delivery will support the effective and efficient day-to-day activities of students, teachers and administrative staff.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery
- Responsible for the reliable provision of IT systems.
- Ensuring availability of school IT systems.
- Assist with the installation of new and upgraded IT systems
IT Support, maintenance and system management
- Provide technical support to staff and students with issues accessing IT and digital resources, including exams IT support.
- Provide remote hands-on assistance for Cluster operations manager and Trust Office ITS team, to help diagnose and resolve issues.
- Escalate issues to Cluster IT Operations Manager or Trust Office IT Services as required.
- Liaise with 3rd party suppliers to ensure resolution of IT incidents, as required.
- Regularly maintain and update computer systems, services and other IT equipment.
- Have a good understanding of the school infrastructure.
- Investigate and troubleshoot networking issues.
- Install, update and manage software applications used with the school.
- Ensure a full understanding of the backup systems and perform regular test restores.
- Support the procurement of new hardware and software as needed
Security and disaster recovery
- Implement and maintain IT security protocols to protect the GDST IT network, sensitive data and to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

- Ensure that GDST policies are implemented by complying with GDST ITS systems, procedures and processes.
4. Compliance, inventory management and documentation
- Keep an accurate inventory of all IT equipment in compliance with GDST asset management standards.

Training and collaboration
- Support training sessions for all staff and students on the use of IT resources and best practices.
