Redmaids’ High School is a vibrant and forward-thinking community, where 785 girls aged 7–18 are empowered to learn without limits. The School’s high-achieving educational culture blends proud traditions with progressive teaching methods, nurturing confident and well-rounded young women equipped with the skills, creativity and mindset needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Founded in 1634, Redmaids’ High has a distinguished heritage in girls’ education and is the newest member of the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST), the UK’s most powerful and effective school network and a leading voice and agenda setter for girls’ education globally.

The GDST Council is seeking an inspirational leader to build on this strong foundation and fully realise the benefits of GDST membership for pupils and staff. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to shape a compelling vision for the future that secures Redmaids’ High’s position as a leading school in the South-West and as a nationally recognised centre of excellence in the education of girls and young women.

The successful candidate will be a confident and strategic leader, with demonstrable experience in driving positive change, inspiring others, and embodying the GDST’s values. Combining respect for the School’s heritage with new ideas and a strong appetite for innovation, the next Head of Redmaids’ High School will be visible and decisive, with the strength of intellect, warmth and gravitas to work well with all members of our community. A passionate advocate for girls’ education, the ideal candidate will be a first-class ambassador for Redmaids’ High School and the GDST.

The closing date for applications is 5pm on Tuesday 12 May 2026.

The first round of interviews will be held at Redmaids’ High School on Thursday 21 May 2026.

The GDST is committed to diversity, inclusion and real change: a family of schools where every individual is valued, respected and included.
