The Role

We're looking for a practical, hands-on individual to join our Estates team to help maintain a safe, secure and welcoming school environment for pupils, staff and visitors.  The successful candidate will be practical, organised, and able to respond calmly to emergencies, with a commitment to maintaining high standards and promoting the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.  We would therefore be particularly keen to hear from applicants who have proven experience in a similar role, ideally within an educational or hospitality environment where service delivery is key. As the role includes occasional driving of the school minibus, you must be a confident driver with a clean license.  If you do not hold a D1 license, we will support you through MIDAS training.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out planned maintenance and minor repairs to buildings, furniture, and equipment.
  • Supporting school events, room set-ups, and contractor visits.
  • Managing deliveries, storage, and porterage duties.
  • Opening, locking, and securing school buildings and grounds.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the site, grounds, and external areas.
  • Assisting with health and safety compliance, including fire alarm testing and Legionella checks.
  • Supporting school vehicles through safety checks, cleaning, and driving when required.
  • Assisting with capital projects and site improvements.
  • Driving the school minibus when needed.

What We're Looking For:

This role would suit a self-starter who:

  • Enjoys practical, hands-on work and takes pride in keeping things running smoothly.
  • Has experience in caretaking, maintenance, site support, trades, or a similar practical role.
  • Enjoys being active and is happy undertaking physical tasks
  • Is proactive, reliable, and able to turn their hand to a variety of jobs.
  • Can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Has good problem solving skills
  • Has a clean driving license
  • Has a positive attitude to continuous professional development
  • Can work flexibly to meet the needs of our busy lettings programme
