About the Role
We are seeking to appoint a committed and inclusive practitioner to join our SEND team as a Teaching Assistant. The role will be part time and will involve supporting a hearing-impaired student in Year 10. This will be in class, on a 1:1 basis, under the direction of the subject teacher, and with small group and 1:1 activities under the direction of the SENCO.
Working alongside the SENCO and other key school staff, you will promote the maintenance of a calm, safe and purposeful learning environment. You will provide communication support throughout the school day to enable full access to the curriculum and extracurricular activities for the student with hearing impairment. You will help to promote her independence skills in communication, learning and social skills within the school setting. Applicants are encouraged from varied career backgrounds; specific training for the role will be provided. It is more important to us to have the right candidate rather than specific TA experience.
The team members you will be joining are dedicated and strive for excellence for all students at Redmaids’ High. We have a highly inclusive culture, and it is important that any applicant shares our vision that all students can be successful regardless of background or need. You will be supported by an experienced SENCO who has worked across the state and independent sectors in both Junior and Senior school settings.
We are looking for someone with the following attributes: excellent communication skills; able to build strong relationships with pupils and staff; flexible, self-motivated and enthusiastic; and able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
